Car Rental companies continue to experience shortages

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — “Obtaining new inventory has been a massive struggle,” said Jolene Wesner, the Vice President of Hertz Rent A Car in Johnstown. Wesner says she's witnessed shortages within the car industry since the pandemic began. “It just goes back to shortages," says Wesner. "Whether it be parts, labor, manpower.” Wesner mentions car dealership production is hurting because of these shortages and that’s why car rental companies like Hertz don’t have the supply access they used to.

Disney World's newest attraction gets official opening date

ORLANDO, Fla. (WKRC) - The highly anticipated re-themed attraction, formerly Splash Mountain, will open this summer. Disney World's iconic log flume ride, Splash Mountain, closed down on May 30, 2023 to undergo a theme change following controversy surrounding the ride's original inspiration, Song of the South. Disney announced it would be replacing the antiquated animatronics and other visual elements with characters from The Princess and the Frog, the 2009 animated film following Tiana and her amphibious Prince Naveen.

Police accuse man of damaging cars, trying to bite officer, licking man on the face

PORTLAND, Ore. — Police arrested a man Tuesday they say tried to bite an officer, jumped on a police car and licked a man’s face. According to police, they were called to Southeast 9th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard a little after 3:30 p.m. on a report a man was assaulting a woman. When police arrived, the man took off, climbed a tree, jumped on a police car and then fled into a restaurant.

State College Furniture Store Closing After Nearly 50 Years, Owner to Pursue True Passion

Trump hush money deliberations continue as jury revisits key testimonies

NEW YORK (AP) — The jury in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial resumed deliberations Thursday after revisiting portions of the judge's instructions and rehearing testimony from multiple key witnesses about the alleged scheme at the heart of the history-making case. The judge responded to a jury request by rereading 30 pages of jury instructions. The 12-person jury, which deliberated for about 4 1/2 hours Wednesday without reaching a verdict, also reheard testimony Thursday morning from a tabloid publisher and Trump's former lawyer and personal fixer.

Kennywood Park celebrates grand opening of Thomas Town

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. – Thomas & Friends lovers can now experience the Number 1 Blue Engine at Kennywood Park. Thomas Town opened on Friday, allowing guests to enjoy five rides, including a train ride with Thomas, a live stage show, themed play and entertainment areas, a retail store and more. This will be the second-largest permanent Thomas & Friends attraction in North America and is considered one of the largest single-year additions in Kennywood’s 120-year history.

PSU fraternitys menorah stolen twice, vandalized ahead of Hanukkah

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Pennsylvania State University condemned an act of vandalism at a fraternity house. Officials say a menorah was vandalized at the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity house, a Jewish fraternity, on Thursday. State College police continue to investigate. Now the search is on for who is behind it. According to police, the menorah was stolen again Saturday night and later returned. The second time, it wasn't damaged. So far, officials say no suspects have been identified.

Temple University says acting president JoAnne A. Epps has died after collapsing on stage

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Temple University acting president JoAnne A. Epps has died after collapsing at a memorial service Tuesday afternoon, the university said. Epps was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, the university said. She was 72. "There are no words that can describe the gravity and sadness of this loss," board chairman Mitchell Morgan said in a statement. "President Epps was a devoted servant and friend who represented the best parts of Temple.
