Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they have signed former second-round draft pick Jaylon Smith to the team's practice squad.
The free agent linebacker was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016.
Smith spent five seasons with the Cowboys before signing with the Green Bay Packers.
He has also spent time with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders.
The former Notre Dame product has played in 88 career games, tallying 626 total tackles, 11 sacks, two interceptions and 6 fumble recoveries.
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that former, 2-time Super Bowl champion running-back Sidney Thornton has passed away at age 68.
Thornton was drafted by Pittsburgh in 1977 and was part of the franchise's Super Bowl teams in 1979 and 1980.
Thornton spent six years in the NFL, all with the Steelers, rushing for over 1,500 yards in his career.
He also tallied 24 combined touchdowns in his career.
MACOMB, Ill. (KHQA) — After six years of development, a life-size Monopoly board was finally revealed this week in an Illinois city.
Hundreds gathered on the square to celebrate the opening of "Macombopoly," a board game set up around Macomb Square. Individuals can scan a QR code to play the game on their phone. Participants can also answer trivia questions and possibly win coupons to local businesses.
The board features statues of the game pieces and the Macomb-born creator, Lizzie Magie.
INDIANA, Pa. – Indiana Borough police and state police in Indiana are investigating a shooting that occurred around 9:25 p.m. Friday at a private home on the 00 block of North 15th Street.
Police said an 18-year-old man was shot one time and is currently being treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for a wound to the upper right chest area.
Jacob Robert Kelly, 19, of Indiana, has been charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, officials said.

Officials say several area crews were called just after midnight Tuesday when flames broke out at a home on Grant Street.
Authorities say they arrived to find flames shooting from the front of the house, which were even melting some of the siding on the home across the street.
UPDATE |Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Emergency officials say the roadway was reopened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Johnstown police are investigating the crash.
ORIGINAL |911 officials say crews are on scene of an overturned truck underneath the Stone Bridge in Johnstown.
Dispatchers say the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. and that the individual was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Authorities say the area of the Stone Bridge is closed until further notice and traffic is being rerouted along Iron Street.

DUBOIS, Pa (WJAC) — This week, twenty college baseball and softball teams will compete in a four-day tournament within the city of DuBois in hopes of beating teams from all across the country.
Officials say the tournament's impact extends beyond the field.
Hundreds of baseball and softball players have descended on DuBois to participate in the Small College World series.
