Local teen builds huge display to get residents in the Halloween spirit

MUNSON, Pa. – We’re halfway through October, which means we're approaching Halloween. One Clearfield County teen spent thousands of dollars to help get people into the spirit. "I just have free time,” decorator Park Lauffer said. “It's kind of a hobby that's gotten a little out of control." Lauffer told 6 News it all started with Christmas, but then the weather would get in the way with his setup. So he decided to go big for Halloween instead.

Nittany Antique Machinery Association Spring Show Returns After Yearlong Hiatus

CENTRE HALL/CENTRE COUNTY, Pa — The Nittany Antique Machinery Association of Central Pennsylvania held their 46th annual spring show at Penn’s Cave this weekend. After COVID stopped the show last year, the annual antique show and flea market resumed in Centre County. The show attracted tractor enthusiasts from across the region for each of the last three days. Even after a year off on account of the pandemic, the popular event picked up right where it left off in 2019, allowing attendees to indulge in the history.

One person dead, others injured after vehicle accident in Pittsburgh

One person is dead and several others are injured after a vehicle struck two individuals on the shoulder of I-376 Westbound Monday morning, a press release states. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. at mile marker 78 and involved three vehicles. The press release states that a vehicle became disabled in the left lane after the driver overturned the vehicle in an unrelated incident.

WASHINGTON (7News) — In 2020, a Maryland man set a U.S. Supreme Court Police car on fire and poured gasoline on several others. Years later, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. On July 15, 2020, 26-year-old Michael Tarner went onto the United States Supreme Court's property, pulled out a gas can from his car, then poured gasoline onto three unmarked Supreme Court Police cars, according to government evidence.

Pennsylvania university shooting wounds 2 women

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. (AP) — Two women were wounded by a gunshot during a spring event at a university in southeastern Pennsylvania over the weekend, authorities said. Lincoln University security officials said the shooting happened at about 10 p.m. Saturday during “Yardfest,” an annual spring event at the Chester County campus near Oxford that prosecutors said was attended by several thousand people. University officials said neither victim was a Lincoln student.

Windber man accused of attacking employer with crowbar

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities say a Somerset County man is facing assault charges after he allegedly attacked his employer with a crowbar. Police say on Monday, 60-year-old Christopher Dayton reportedly went to Petrunak’s Store, in Windber, looking for work. Officials say when Dayton was told there was no work, he reportedly became violent, striking the store owner with a crowbar and then choking him on the ground. Police say after the attack, Dayton also reportedly damaged store displays and threatened an elderly customer.

Former DuBois city manager, fellow city employee federally indicted on theft of funds

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities announced Thursday that former DuBois city manager John "Herm" Suplizio, as well as a fellow city employee, have been indicted following an investigation into allegations that the two conspired to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars in city funds. Investigators allege that from 2014 to 2022, Suplizio and 58-year-old Roberta Shaffer, who served as the city's secretary, conspired to "divert" city funds by using the city's tax identification number to create secret, personal bank accounts where the funds were deposited.
